First we had to cut the top off of the pumpkin! The top came off...pop! Hands make the best tools to clean out a pumpkin.
Miss Allison helped us carve a pumpkin during a Speech and Language activity!

The Jack-O-Lantern
by: Miss Marlene's Class
(sung to 'Have you ever seen a Lassie')

Once we had a pumpkin, a pumpkin, a pumpkin.
Once we had a pumpkin with no face at all.
With no eyes, and no nose and
no mouth and no teeth!
Once we had a pumpkin with no face at all.

We had to cut the top off of the pumpkin.

Next we had to scoop out the seeds. We all helped! This pumpkin sure had a lot of seeds inside!
We scraped! and scraped!! And scraped some more!
So we made a Jack-O-Lantern,
a Jack-O-Lantern,
a Jack-O-Lantern.
So we made a Jack-O-Lantern, with a funny face!
We can't wait to start carving! It was hard work!
First we worked on his eyes. It took all of our friends to help. The eyes are near the top of the pumpkin.
We cut and cut... Finally....we did it! Our pumpkin has two eyes!

Next we worked on the nose.

With two eyes and one nose and
one mouth with no teeth!

So we made a Jack-O-Lantern
with a funny face!

His nose is in the middle.
Let's plan what shapes to use for eyes, a nose and a mouth! Our pumpkin had a rectangle for a mouth. We chose a triangle shape for our pumpkin's nose.
Carving a pumpkin was a lot of fun! We made one mouth at the bottom of our pumpkin! We made a Jack-O-Lantern with a funny face!
